The Peacemaker

"The Peacemaker" is a novel written in 1934 by Cecil Scott «C. S.» Forester (1899-1966), telling the story of a shabby schoolteacher named Edward Pethwick, who lives in London with his repulsive, drunken wife. The only ray of hope in his life are experiments with a secret invention – until the pacifist daughter of his headmaster's brings sex and idealism into his life.
