Alberto y Metodio

Alberto Veselovsky (Albert Veselovsky) y (and) Metodio Ponebatko (Methodius Ponebatko) eran (be..*/ was, were) amigos de la infancia (childhood friends), as? como (as well as) en (in) literatura (literature).

Una vez (once) al comienzo del verano (at the beginning of summer), los amigos (… friends) decidieron (decide):

– Es su?ciente (it be..* enough/ am, is, are) para (for) nuestras (our) familias (family..) vivir y socavar su salud (to live and undermine their health) en (in) una ciudad contaminada con gas (… gas-polluted city),

debemos mudarnos (we must move) al (to) campo (… country), a (to) un lugar tranquilo y pintoresco (some quiet, picturesque place).

As? decidieron y lo hicieron (so they decide.. and do..*/ did/ done): se mudaron con (with) sus (their) familias a (to) un pueblo tranquilo (… quiet village) con (with) el nombre poеtico «Lermontovo» (… poetic name «Lermontovo»).

All? (there) la vida (… life) era (be..*/ was, were) brillante y libre (bright and free), al amanecer (at the dawn) iban (go..*/ went/ gone) a nadar (to swim) en el r?o Volga (in the Volga River),

disfrutaban de (enjoy) amaneceres y atardeceres (sunrises and sunsets), de la armon?a de la naturaleza (… harmony of nature), de la diversidad de la ?ora y fauna local (originality of the local ?ora and fauna).

En (in) el bosque (… forest), que (which) se extend?a (extend) desde el pueblo y mаs allа (from… village and beyond), hab?a (there be..*/ wasd, were) jabal?es y osos salvajes (wild boars and bears), a veces (sometimes) entraban en (enter) el territorio del pueblo (… territory of… village), era (it be..*/ was, were) fascinante (fascinating).

Y ademаs (and) en esa zona hab?a (in that area there be..*) muchos hongos diferentes (many di?erent mushrooms), por lo que (so) la mayor?a de los lugare?os (most of the locals) eran (be..*) аvidos buscadores de hongos (inveterate mushroom pickers).

Ese pasatiempo (that hobby) incluso (even) se hab?a convirtido en (turn.. into) un negocio real (real business) para (for) algunos de ellos (some of them).

El tema de los hongos (… mushroom topic) interesо (interest) a nuestros personajes (our characters) tambiеn (too), decidieron (they also decide..) convertirse en (to become) recolectores de hongos (mushroom pickers).

Despuеs de (after) tomar (take..) un serio curso de capacitaciоn (… serious training course) en (on) Internet (… Internet), en el canal de YouTube (on… YouTube channel),

y aprender a distinguir magistralmente (masterfully learn.. to distinguish) los hongos venenosos (poisonous mushrooms) de (from) los completamente comestibles (completely edible ones), decidieron hacer (to make) su primera salida (their ?rst outing) al (to) bosque (… forest).

Viaje de hongos

Se fueron de hongos (they go..* mushrooming/ went/ gone) a la madrugada (at dawn), habiеndose ba?ado previamente (previously bath..) en (in) el r?o (… river),

vestidos correctamente (dress.. correctly), para protegerse (in order to protect themselves) de (from) las picaduras de mosquitos y serpientes (… bites of mosquitoes and snakes), que (which) viv?an (live) en grandes cantidades (in huge numbers) en el bosque.

Pasaron unas dos horas (2 hours pass..), los amigos recogieron (gather) muchos hongos diferentes (a lot of di?erent mushrooms) y volvieron a casa satisfechos (satis?ed returned home).

Sus esposas (their wives), despuеs de (after) consultar (consult..) entre s? (among themselves), decidieron descon?ar de (to distrust) esos (those) hongos y dispusieron (rule.. on their case):

– Por ahora (for now) no comeremos (not eat..) estos (these) hongos, y no permitiremos que envenenеis (we not allow.. you to poison) a (-) nuestros preciosos hios (our precious children).

Vosotros id a comer (go eating) vuestros grebes y amanitas muscarias (your grebes and ?y agarics yourselves), y llevaremos bien con (we get.. along with) nuestro (our) borsch ucraniano y pampushkas (Ukrainian borsch and pampushkas).

Si (if) los dos (the two of you) estаis bien (be..* fine/ am, is, are) ma?ana (tomorrow), y nadie estа muerto (none of you be..* dead), probaremos (we taste..) estos hongos tambiеn (too).

Y as? lo hicieron (and so they do..*/ did/ done).

Es siempre mаs divertido cocinar juntos (cook.. together be..* always more fun), as? que (so) los amigos se pusieron a trabajar amistosamente (amicably set* to work/ set/ set).

Al examinar todos los hongos una vez mаs (once again look.. through all the mushrooms), eligieron (choose..*/ chose/ chosen) solo los del aspecto mаs con?able (only the most reliable in appearance), al tirar (throw.. away) todo lo que les parec?a sospechoso
