– Anything to drink?
– A hundred grams of Armenian brandy and a bottle of Chianti. It’s Italian wine, have you got it?
– No question. It was Italian long ago. Now it’s international. But our Chianti is from Italy. Any salad?
– Yes, please, you can improvise.
– For dessert?
– Ice-cream, full cream. One portion with strawberry syrup, the other with chocolate chips.
– Coffee, tea?
– Black Ceylon tea and black Turkish coffee.
– Anything else?
– No, that’s all, I think.
– Sandwiches with brandy: caviar or salmon?
– Oh, yes! One with black caviar, the other with red.
– Sugar or chocolates with coffee and tea?
– Chocolates.
– In five minutes I’ll bring you brandy, wine, lemon, chocolates, sandwiches and salads. The rest will come a bit later.
In American English:
– Good evening. Are you ready to order?
– Hi, I noticed that you don’t seem to have any pasta navy style on the menu. Is that something that I wouldn’t be able to order or do you think that you guys might be able to help me out with here? I’m actually a sailor on a submarine but on vacation now. I just so happen to miss marine food.
– That shouldn’t be a problem, I would think. Would you prefer pork or beef for your minced meat, sir?
– I can’t seem to remember how our cook used to make it, to be honest with you.
– It’s done both ways but the authentic recipe calls for almost all beef plus one fifth of pork.
– That sounds good. I think that I’ll go with that then.
– Very well. And navy style pasta, correct?
– Yes, please.
– And for your spouse?
– She’ll have the same as well, please.
– And to drink?
– I’d like Armenian brandy and a bottle of Chianti, Italian, please.
– Chianti is international now but all of our Chianti is from Italy though. Would you both like salads?
– Yes, please. House salads are fine.
– Very well.
– after some time……
– Will you be having dessert this evening?
– I’d like ice-cream and not frozen yogurt or low fat, please. One portion with strawberry syrup, the other with chocolate chips.
– Coffee, tea?
– Black Ceylon tea and Turkish coffee, please
– Anything else?
– No, I think that that should just about cover it.
– Any sugar or chocolates with your coffee and tea?
– Chocolates, please.
– Alright! Sounds good. I will be bringing your dessert out to you both shortly here, OK?
– Thank you!
– You’re most welcome!
