In the book there is an exercise to translate and retell a fairy tale from Spanish into English, and an exercise to translate and retell the English version of the same fairy tale into Spanish. The exercises have the keys. In the fairy tale there are 899 Spanish / English words. Due to complexity, the book corresponds to the levels B2 – C1. It is recommended for a wide range of people studying Spanish and English, as well as for native English speakers studying  Spanish.

The number of words you need to know for the following purposes of using a foreign language

For «survival» in the environment without a translator – 120

For daily communication on general topics – 2000

To read simple texts of common topics – 4,000 – 5,000

Reading of difficult texts – 10,000

Native speaker level – 10,000 – 20,000

How to work at the fairy tale

Follow the simplest rules, namely:

1. First, analyze the sentence for grammar – the tenses and forms of verbs, active or passive voice.

2. If you don’t know any words, use your dictionary or the Translate Google service https://translate.google.com (https://translate.google.com/)

3. If the sentence has idioms, or words with difficult realities, use the search for their meanings or the realities here https://context.reverso.net (https://context.reverso.net/)

4. First, translate all sentences in the fairy tale, then learn all the new words and phrases, retell it.

Alicia viv?a en una peque?a casa en las afueras del pueblo. Aunque sus padres trabajaban en el campo desde la ma?ana hasta la noche, llevaban vidas modestas y pobres. Ciertamente, cоmo es posible hacerse ricos en tales circunstancias. Fuertes huracanes a menudo ocurr?an all?, estropeaban y destru?an los cultivos.

Y un d?a, cuando los padres se hab?an ido a trabajar, nubes oscuras cubrieron la casa, centellearon relаmpagos, comenzо un fuerte granizo y luego estallо el viento. Era de tal fuerza que comenzо a demoler todos los edificios a su alrededor, a convertir en astillas los barcos en el muelle local.

Alicia estaba muy asustada, se subiо a la cama y se cubriо de cabeza con la manta. De esa manera hab?a sentado hasta que sintiо que la casa se despegо y estaba llevandose en una direcciоn desconocida.

La ni?a corriо a la ventana y mirо hacia abajo: ya hab?an sobrevolado a travеs de su pueblo natal, un lago, las monta?as, alguna ciudad. Y entonces todo comenzо a girar y desapareciо ante sus ojos.

Cuando Alicia se despertо, se dio cuenta de que la casa no volaba a ning?n lado. Se levantо y mirо por la ventana. Frente a ella hab?a un cеsped soleado salpicado con diferentes flores. Las mariposas volaban y los pаjaros cantaban all?, as? que la ni?a saliо de la casa y fue a mirar a su alrededor.

Caminо un poco, recogiо flores, trenzо una guirnalda, se tumbо en la hierba, admirando el cielo azul sin nubes, pero de repente por poco se desmayо de tal sorpresa: aproximadamente a un metro de ella, estaba flotando en el aire una criatura peque?a, similar a una ni?a con alas.
