По глубине вносимых изменений инновации могут быть радикальными (т.е. предлагающими кардинально новый продукт или услугу, путь решения проблемы и т.д.) и улучшающими (т.е. совершенствующими уже существующий продукт, услугу и т.д.). Развитию новых отраслей экономики способствуют радикальные инновации. Радикальные инновации в долгосрочной перспективе приводят к тому, что новые отрасли не только появляются, но и постепенно становятся доминирующими;

3) созданию единого рыночного пространства. В современном обществе, которое так или иначе идет по пути глобализации, даже одна инновация может способствовать созданию единого рынка. Наиболее характерным примером здесь может являться создание сети Интернет, в частности – появление интернет-магазинов, покупки в которых можно совершать, находясь практически в любой стране мира. Таким образом, создается единый рынок, границы которого не поддаются измерению;

4) стимулированию конкуренции и повышению конкурентоспособности отдельного физического лица, организации, страны. Джоном А. Гобсоном было высказано мнение, что действительное конкурентное преимущество заключается в способности находить новые рынки, производить новые товары и изобретать новые способы изготовления товаров. Если фирма обладает инновацией, которая пользуется спросом на рынке, то, безусловно, это будет являться ее конкурентным преимуществом как минимум до момента, пока организации-конкуренты не создадут аналог инновации или пока не иссякнет спрос на эту инновацию. Как известно, фирма, обладающая конкурентным преимуществом, при прочих равных условиях имеет возможность получить высокую прибыль или даже сверхприбыль за счет создания естественной монополии. Другие организации, действующие в том же или смежном сегменте рынка, что и компания, обладающая инновацией, вступят в конкурентную борьбу и будут стремиться «разрушить» образовавшуюся естественную монополию, прежде всего, путем разработки различных инновационных идей. Очевидно, что конкуренция возрастает, что благотворно сказывается на конъюнктуре рынка в целом;

5) взаимопроникновению культур и экономик разных стран. Инновации, применяемые в многочисленных областях жизнедеятельности общества, способствуют интеграции общества;

6) укреплению обороноспособности страны, ее экономической, продовольственной безопасности и т.д. Обеспечение целостности государства и безопасности граждан являются одними из приоритетных задач функционирования органов власти всех уровней. Их реализация невозможна без создания должного уровня обороноспособности, информационной, экономической, продовольственной безопасности. Решению поставленных задач способствует инновационная деятельность, в рамках которой можно развить инновационные идеи по кодированию информации, селекции растений, устойчивых к болезням и приносящих высокий урожай, разработке новых систем финансирования инвестиционных проектов, совершенствованию системы страхования с целью снижения рисков и т.д. Что касается обороноспособности, то здесь тоже невозможно обойти стороной инновационную деятельность, которая активно отражена в общем процессе создания новых видов вооружения. Несмотря на большое количество международных программ по разоружению, последние мировые события, а также опрос, проводимый Institute for Economics and Peace, показывает, что в последние годы Global Peace Index («мировой индекс миролюбивости») снижается, что косвенно может свидетельствовать об острой необходимости поддержания обороноспособности страны на достаточно высоком уровне…

11. Give a written translation of the following extracts from English into Russian:

1. There seems to be a lot of correlation between economic growth and human development. This can be explained by a simple example in an economy. We shall consider economic growth as a prerequisite for economic development. Assume we have a household in an economy that ekes their livelihood from a horticultural firm. Economic growth will bring business opportunities to the country and the effects spills over to all sectors of the economy. The firm will increase its profits which will in turn be used to pay for their generation education, improve the access to health care for that family and will increase the general living standard of the family. If this effect is replicated in each household overall economic development will be achieved.

2. Economic development leads to improvements in many sectors of a nation. There are a variety of indicators that economist use to measure the level of economic development in a country. The indicators are: declining poverty rates, increasing literacy rates, declining infant morbidity and increasing life expectancy. Economic development has to be supported by the whole nation from economists, politicians, and also civilians. Thus it can be concluded that, economic development leads to the creation of more opportunities in the sectors of education, health sector, research, human development and environmental conservation. It equally implies an increase in the per capita income of every citizen.

3. Development economics is a branch of economics that focuses on how to improve the economies of developing countries. Its major concern is the development of third world economies. Development in such countries is met by improving the basic amenities to promote the welfare of its citizen and to maintain a certain set standard of living for all its citizens. The sectors that should be improved according to the development economists are Health sector, education, employment, and inflation, domestic and international economic policies. This branch of economics is specially tailored to the developing country to help them transform into a prosperous nation through progressive economics.

Goldman: Why Europe will outperform

The ECB’s likely cuts come as the US Federal Reserve is widely expected to implement its first hike to its benchmark rate in nine years at its December meeting. That's likely to strengthen the dollar as it will increase expected returns in the US.

With US interest rates set to rise and Europe's likely headed lower, certain assets on the continent look like a good bet, Goldman Sachs said.

It’s staying overweight European equities and local-currency credit on a three-month basis to position for “tailwinds” from the European Central Bank (ECB) and the currency.

“We expect the ECB to ease further at the December meeting to counter downside risks to inflation,” Goldman said in a note Wednesday, forecasting the deposit rate to be lowered by 10 basis points to negative 30 basis points. It also expects the bank to extend its quantitative easing (QE) program through the end of the third quarter of 2017.

A basis point is 1/100th of a percentage point.

That’s likely to weaken the euro as funds flow out of the currency and toward assets offering better-than-negative returns.
