– И мне тоже. Я боюсь. Как вообще на эту мачту взбираться?

Мы переместились со своими стаканами в гостиную и сели там на диван. Бигбен взял ноутбук, чтобы найти нужную нам информацию с помощью интернета. Мы узнали, что подняться можно будет по специальным тросовым ступенькам – выбленкам, которые крепятся на более толстые тросы-ванты специальными узлами. Неплохо было бы еще иметь монтажный пояс с карабином, с помощью которого при подъеме на мачту нужно «цепляться» за ванты и таким образом себя страховать. «А-то как снесет порывом ветра», – подумала я, и при этой мысли у меня засосало где-то «под ложечкой».

Taking our glasses of juice, we went into the living room and sat down on the couch. Bigben took the laptop to find the information we need using the Internet. We learned that I could climb the mast using the rope steps – ratlines that are attached to thicker ropes-shrouds with help special sailor's knots. It would be nice to have an assembly belt with a snap hook, through which the sailor "clings" to the shrouds while climbing on the mast and thus insures itself. "Otherwise, a gust of wind can throw me," I thought, and because of this thought, I felt the stab of cold in the pit of my stomach.

Время от времени камера показывала палубу корабля, оставшуюся внизу. Она выглядела все меньше и меньше, но у пацана, похоже, вообще не было страха высоты, да и порывы ветра его не пугали.

Bigben found a video where a boy, probably a sea cadet, cheerfully climbed to the top of the mast as if it was for him very easy. From time to time the camera showed the deck of the ship remaining down. Deck looked less and less, but the boy apparently wasn't afraid of heights, and also wind gusts weren't frightening him.

After a few beeps, Lucas picked up the phone, and Bigben explained the situation to him. Lou offered that we all met tomorrow at the sailboat, but I have tomorrow was a working shift, so we agreed to phone during the day.

После разговора с Лукасом Георгий поехал к себе домой. Я посмотрела видеоролик еще пару раз, поужинала, а после решила узнать что-нибудь о парусниках вообще. Я поняла, что «наш» – бриг, парусник с двумя мачтами, даже попробовала разобраться с его устройством. Оказалось, что кораблем называют фрегат, у которого три мачты и больше, а бриг лучше называть только судном. От обилия морских терминов меня стало клонить в сон, и я пошла спать. Перед сном я посмотрела на рисунки над кроватью и мысленно пожелала Артуру и маме с папой «Спокойной ночи».

After talking with Lucas, George went to his home. I watched the video a couple more times, had dinner, and then decided to find out something about sailboats. I learned what "our" ship – brig, a sailing vessel with two masts, and even tried to understand his device. I began to feel sleepy due to the abundance of nautical terms and went to sleep. Before bed, I looked at the pictures on the wall and mentally wished Arthur and mom and dad good night.

Она казалась какой-то жрицей или правительницей, даже взгляд ее стал другим – это был взгляд повелительницы. Моя гостиная явно была не совсем подходящим местом для нее.

Alexa and I were sitting in my living room. I saw her not the same as before. She was dressed in a light tunic and had highly abstracted hair with a tiara on her head, the intricate decorations on the neck and wrists. She seemed a priestess or ruler; even the look was other – the look of a potentate. My living room was not a very suitable place for her.

– Алекса, ты стала какой-то другой.

"Alexa, you've become else."

– Тебя это смущает. Я могу вернуть мой прежний вид.

"Does that bother you? I can bring back my old way."

Мгновение – и она оказалась одетой в привычные для меня джинсы и рубашку, украшения исчезли, волосы были собраны в хвост.

– По предположениям ваших ученых материального мира просто не было бы без темной материи, и они правы.
